The CyCOS Showcase was held at Canopi, 82 Tanner Street, London on 16 September 2026 and shared the key findings from the UKRI-funded period of the CyCOS initiative.
The event included presentations from the CyCOS team, along with a panel session, thematic 'World Cafe' style discussions, and displays from a series of invited exhibitors.
Introduction
The opening session, presented by Prof. Steven Furnell, introducing the background and motivation for the CyCOS initiative and a summary of the overall project.
Early Findings
Dr Maria Bada and Dr Matthew Rand present details of the investigative research undertaken in the early stages of the project.
Establishing Communities of Support
Prof. Steven Furnell and Dr Ram Herkanaidu outline the work done to design and pilot the Cyber Security Communities of Support
Panel Session
Dr Neeshe Khan led a panel discussion to further explore need for cyber security support for SMEs and the experiences of those involved in the CyCOS pilots. The panel members were Dr Maria Bada (CyCOS project team), Amanda Finch (Chartered Institute of Information Security), Andrew Goodacre (CyCOS Community SME) and Simon Plummer (CyCOS Community Advisor).
World Cafe
The World Cafe session provided an opportunity for participants to contribute to a series of thematic discussions on a series of key issues. During the session, participants moved between different tables, adding to the written notes from previous participants. The images below include the outputs from each of the tables.
Extending and maintaining the Communities of Support
In the final session, Prof. Steven Furnell, Dr Matthew Rand and Amanda Finch, CEO of CIISec, discussed the expansion of the Community of Support activities and the longer-term plans for maintaining the initiative.
